Have you ever heard the phrase "you are what you eat?"
Well, the same goes for what you slather on your body, every day, usually every hour, on repeat... That stuff accumulates, and I don't know about you, but I want to live a long and healthy life. I want to see my babies grow up and have babies of their own. I want to run and play, and enjoy every single moment of this breathtaking life, and that's why I decided to switch to natural and organic skincare.
Concern over chemicals
There are so many harmful toxic chemicals in the products we use today. What's more concerning is that many of these chemicals are banned elsewhere, but there's little effort from the FDA to safeguard Americans from health risks linked to toxins. For example, the European Union has banned over 1,300 chemicals found in cosmetics. The FDA has only banned 8 and restricted 3. From coal tar dyes to formaldehyde, to synthetic fragrance, the list of "no-no's" becomes rather taxing for anyone to navigate.
Organic beauty products are produced without the use of any artificial fertilizers, pesticides, and other toxic chemicals. Furthermore, organic agriculture not only benefits the end-user of the product but the environment as well. According to a study done for over a 30 year period, from conventional to organic farming, conventional farming systems emitted 40% more greenhouse gas emissions than organic farming.
I don't believe you need one million beauty products to maintain a healthy glow. I believe that by using a few products, with effective and safe ingredients, you can maintain and bring out the natural beauty in you.
